Gender and Disaster Video Explainer Series

These short video explainers were all shaped by the voices of emergency responders, emergency management and community disaster recovery workers across Australia, who told us they need better ways to talk about gender roles, gender-based violence and inclusion, without jargon, and without blame. Over half of the people we spoke to had worked in the emergency and disaster sector for over 10 years. They had deep insights around the challenges of communicating messages about gender, fairness, and gender-based violence in disaster contexts within their institutions.

Our hope is that these four powerful stories opens doors: to better training, more inclusive decision-making, and systems that truly support those most at risk.
