Read our new Progress Scan
We recently undertook a comprehensive Progress Scan to review emerging research, government strategies, sector reports, and community-led initiatives across Australia and internationally. The scan focuses on the experiences of women and gender-diverse people before, during, and after disasters over the last 50 years.
The Progress Scan identified several key trends, including the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related disasters, growing recognition of gendered impacts in emergency management, and the importance of community-led recovery approaches. It also highlighted ongoing challenges,
such as unequal access to resources and decision-making, workforce pressures within the community sector, and gaps in the collection and use of
gender-disaggregated data.
The Scan features a snapshot timeline to demonstrate the evolution of key national and international policies, progress and systems change over the last 50 years.
